Thank you for confirming that Jeffrey and Theophilus was the same person. At least that eliminates one of the many husbands' that Eglin was supposed to have!
I don't know yet if "my" Hugh Hanford was a brother to 'your' Jeffrey......but there is a good possiblity.Or, maybe they at least were close cousins. There certainly were John Hanford's in my line, too.It could be, too, that Jeffrey and Hugh were half-brothers,..maybe they had different mothers.
This is what I have so far on my line:
John HanSford......first one to add the 'S' in the Hanford name......do not know why. He was born in 1608 In London, England.Died, May 9, 1654 in York, Va.He married Elizabeth (Jones?) who was born in 1618 in London, England.John died December 24, 1675, in VA.I descended thru their son, Charles Hansford who married Elizabeth Folliott.
John's parents were:
Hugh Hanford, born 1573 at Woollas Hall.. West, Worcester. He married: Eglin Hatherly, daughter of Robert Hatherleigh who was born in 1542 in Hatherleigh, England.
I have Hugh's parents as:
John Hanford, born 1547 in England, and, JOAN BELLEW,born in 1549 at Woollas Hall, Worcester, England.
Do you have any idea where WOOLLAS HALL was?I do know that some of the families of aristocracy lived in Halls, which were part of theOxford andCambridge Universities, as the Royal families are the ones who helped establish both of them.
