Hi, My gg-grandfather, Patrick Hanrahan and his wife, Mary Butler, had a son in 1868 in SF, California. Since it was rare at that time for a family to have only one child, I'm assuming that Patrick had siblings in Ireland (don't know any more about from whence he came), and that his son, William Patrick, was not an only child. Haven't had much luck with the CA census index. It is possible that there were relatives in Mass (there was a visit to Mass to see relatives in the 1940s, but not sure it was to see Hanrahan relatives). Anyone have a missing Patrick out there who might have gone west to seek his fortune in the gold mines?
