I would like to uncover information about the family of my late grandmother Julianne (or Julia Anne) Donegan (nee Hanratty), originally of Chord Road, Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. My grandmother passed away some years before my birth and I have very little information about her and her family.
I know that she had one sister, but I can only speculate about the possibility of brothers.
Julianne Hanratty, a daughter of Patrick Hanratty, and a seamstress by profession, in Drogheda, married my late grandfather Michael Donegan, a railway porter, on 13 June 1911. he was forty years old, and she was thirty-nine.
The mariage was conducted in the Church of Saint Peter, Drogheda, in the presence of witnesses Thomas Byrne and her sister Honorah (or Nora) Hanratty.
Michael and Julianne had three children - all now deceased - Patrick, Kevin (my father) and Rosaleen. At various times they lived at Keady, County Armagh, where Patrick was born, and Dundalk, before settling finally at Thistlecross, Mountpleasant, County Louth - just north of Dundalk.
Julianne Donegan (nee Hanratty) died 15 July 1947 and Michael Donegan died 12 October 1952, aged 89.
Honorah Hanratty married a Thomas Byrne, who predeceased her on 10 October 1961 in Dublin. Honorah died 4 November 1965. Alas, they had no children.
The above is all that I know about my late grandmother's family. I would be most grateful if anyone can provide further details about my Hanratty ancestors or can identify any living relatives.
