Richard, I’m searching for the family of George Hansbrough (1 Feb 1825, Virginia - 5 Dec 1898, San Francisco, San Francisco Co., California). His wife, Sarah A. Swallow, is a member of my family.
“History of Clear Creek and Boulder Valleys, Colorado,” has the following concerning his ancestry:
“He is descended from German and Irish ancestry, and his parents were natives of Virginia. His father, John Hansbrough, was a farmer and stock-grower by occupation. The subject of this sketch is the oldest of a family of five children, and, at the age of eighteen, left home for the West, and located in Clarke Co., Ohio.”
This family migrated from Ohio and appears in Kansas from 1859 to 1870, then moved on to Colorado.Descendants were in California, and both George and Sarah died there.
Can you connect George Hansbrough to your Virginia family?Happy to share what I have.
It seems to me that Boulder County CO researcher Marti Anderson mentioned your name for this line.
