John M Hansford, frontier physician and judge, arrived in TX 1837 while still a Republic from GLASGOW, KY. Bn? died 1844, gunned down in front of wife and children by malcontents. He represented SHELBY county in the 3rd and 4th sessions in the House of Representatives of the Republic of TX.
Apparently he was well thought of as HANSFORD county was named for him in 1887.
Perhaps this data will be helpful to some Hansford researchers.
