The legend is that a branch of the de Rastrick family in England became Hansons and that a John Hanson served the Swedish royal army, married into the royal family, and that his sons immigrated to New Sweden.
It's possible to prove the Rastrick and Hanson connection through DNA. If the story is true, a proven patrilineally-descended male Hanson and a proven patrilineally-descended Rastrick will have matching y chromosomes. Has anyone been taken steps in that direction? If so, I'd love to hear about it.
