There are Hardisons, Harbisons, Harbersons from NC later migrating to TN, KY, MO and from there other locations - most of this migration took place in the early 1800's and then again after the Civil War. It seems to me, that given the variations I have seen, they just might all be connected, and I don't know which is the correct spelling, if any are. I have been able to trace my lineage back to Jasper Hardison who settled in NC in 1722/23. His daughter Mary married a Benjamin Carkeet. There was a Stephen Hardison who settled in Maine 1680-90, who's neighbor was William Carkeet and he had a son Benjamin. William had a sloop (one mask boat) called the Endeavor and used to sail down the coast to Maryland - this all seems to tie together, but can find no evidence that Jasper was ever in Maine, related to Stephen, or from which country they came from - although it is assumed from England.
Recent contact with England - could only located 2 living Hardison's in England, wrote to them, no reply. Have you any idea where the Harberson's came from?
Thanks.
