George Henry was born in liverpool in 1826 to John Henry and Margaret Biggs. He came to Australia and married Catherine Quinlan in 1854. Thereafter they took the surname Hargreaves and had one child John Henry George Hargreaves. George 'Hargreaves' died a year later and Catherine remarried John Hollis.
I can find records for a George Hargreaves coming to Australia on the Ottillia and working as an apprentice in the Liverpool area at age 13 which is probably him. But why would he change his surname from Henry to Hargreaves, back to Henry and then back to Hargreaves over the course of his life? Any ideas? I am stumped! With thanks Donna
