I'm descended through James Harker's and Mary McColom's daughter Elizabeth, born 1802.They had another daughter, Hannah.
According to the "The Harker-Higley Ancestry" (1913), Mary McColom died when Elizabeth was young.James Harker then married Puella Higley in about 1806 and they had 5 sons.
James Harker's father was Captain Joseph Harker who fought in the Revolutionary War from July 1776 to ~ 1780 in the New Jersey Continental Line and other regiments. There are many records of him, including his being shot in the arm at Minisink, New Jersey, July 22, 1779.He was born June 8, 1753, Morris County, New Jersey, died September, 1815, (his will was issued September 20, 1815) and he is buried at Port Byron, New York.
Joseph Harker's father was another James Harker, born June 25, 1703 in Ireland. He emigrated to Morris County, New Jersey between 1703 and 1735, evidently with a brother named Daniel. He petitioned to kept a Public House in the township of Grineg, New Jersey March 26, 1745.I do not have his date of death or location.
There is a possibility, according to the Harker-Higley book, that Joseph Harker was married to Mary Walling, but this is unconfirmed. Her father was Joseph Walling Jr. and his father was Sen. Joseph Walling.Again, that is completely unconfirmed. So far, I've found only one reference to a Mary Walling and it says nothing of her age or marital status.
I hope that helps. If you require more information, please let me know.
