Have been trying to figure out first who Levi Harrell wed and then just when he did wed her.Current records say he wed twice:
1) Mrs Cole now assumed Mrs Sarah Cole born 1767 in Albemarle area.
2) Miss Whire now assumed Miss Esther White wed some time after 1804.
This comes from DAR records by Burch Harrell Allied Family author Marilu Smallwood. However in her original references to this she notes no marriage records had been found on Levi and his wives to confirm this. Also later states didn't do much at time to find them and basicly had no idea where they might be found. This has bothered me about this and have tried to track down anything can to get answers.Finding that Esther Harrell born in 1801 is said to be daugher of Levi Harrell is just one more thorn in this process. As if he wed Miss Esther White in 1804 then why a daugher named Esther in 1801?Believe with what have found that he only had one wife Miss Esther White and wed her about 1776.That the Mrs Sarah Cole was possible his Aunt or sister-in-law, most likely aunt..
Still digging to find anything as so far have bits and pieces of land records related wills and so on but nothing solid. Also what DAR has is not based on fact but input fromfolks who got into DAR off another prover AR vet then later added Levi on list of their relatives to serve without having to go to a formal process of proving it.As DAR has his right birth year of 1750 but say he died after 1790 based on nobody found him on tax records after that date.Estate papers in Barnwell SC place him dead by late 1805 as they were filled in early 1806 but Esther Harrell, Levi Harrell, and Conrad Augley. Believe Esther to be wife with Levi born 1777 and Conrad probably a shister lawyer or local neighbor with legal skills. As have found him listed in SC with Jacob as well as Levi and other Harrell as early as 1800.Then in 1816-1817 he followed the Harrell into GA and got caught playing house with Widow Esther Harrell by some Harrells other known related to them all in Pulaski Co GA.
Note: The Harrell moved to GA before formation of Pulaski Co in 1808 into what was Wilkinson Co and later into Telfair formed in 1807 and much later Dodge in 1870.Figure they left areas of SC and/or NC for GA as the first GA land Lottery was in 1805 and last was in 1838 with about four or five total.Grants were given for service in War 1812 to land in GA.Also have what is call the Yazoo Land Fraud 1784-1806 in GA that got folks moving from VA NC SC into GA as GA held claims on western lands to MS river until 1802 when it gave most up to clear up on Yazoo with courts.Bourbon Co GA with Co seat at Natchez on MS river was formed during this time. Thus many moved from the original colonies into new lands suppose to be opened in GA.Trouble is they sold some of this land to more than one person...
Will try to make a run to Bulloch Co some time soon and see what can find on them there as have not looked for Allen there but have Harrell.May not find much as think records were burned in 1857 in that area.
