I realize this is a very dated thread but the dispersion of the Hiram Harris family of Dubois County Indiana is a family I am researching currently.
Martha Jane (Harris) Chambers, eldest daughter of Hiram and Ann born 1834 in Indianamarried Robert Chapman Chambers in 1850 and within a few years settled in Atchison County Missouri.
Hiram Harris it appears was murdered in Dubois County in Ireland Settlement in 1848/49 on neighbor's farm (Anderson) George R. Wilson HISTORICAL NOTES ON DUBOIS COUNTY . Ann, his wife, appears to have died within a year of Hiram's death in abt 1849.
It appears there were six children of Hiram and Ann , (Martha Jane 1834, Alice Louisa 1836, Caroline 1837, Thomas abt 1838, William 1840, and and Reuben 1843).
I have decent documentation of Martha Jane's history after 1849 to death in 1925 in Atchison County Missouri.
The documentation I have for the rest of the family is very minimal. Children Caroline and Thomas appear in their paternal grandparents home Thomas Sr. and Martha Harris family in the 1850 census in Bainbridge, Dubois County Indiana and William appears in the Samuel J Postlethwaite, his maternal Great Uncles household in the 1850 census in Bainbridge, Dubois County Indiana.William may also be identified in the 1860 with his aunt Elizabeth (Hiram's sister) in Jefferson Indiana but nothing firm on this.
I have no information on Alice or Rebuen Harris. I have seen a report that Caroline was also found to have later settled in Atchison County Missouri but have not been able to find any documentation on this.
Sure would like to hear from others that have worked or are working with the Hiram Harris and Ann (Matheny) Harris family.
