how interesting that your harris family who, per the info here, were part of the harris family of archibald harris/ mary/ polly thompson, were there in cleburne co, al the same time as my/ our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter, who died in 1869 in cleburne co, al and who, also, per the info, lived in this same fruithurst/ muscadine creek area of cleburne co, al.
since there has been so much confusion and repercussions, especially for me, re the confusion re my/ our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter and, again, your archibald harris/ polly thompson, etc, i am going to post here correspondences ira harris and i had earlier on "harris hunters."
i have also noted, per another of your posts, your interest in your brown/ hooper families also there in cleburne co, al.
these same families were also involved with my/ our arch harris/ elizabeth carter also there in cleburne co, al.
this was our arch harris/ elizabeth carter's daughter elizabeth harris who married there in 1865 in cleburne co, al obadiah hooper, son of john cleveland hooper/ sarah malinda brown.
again, i know for sure how confusing and involved this has all been and to me what is important in any of this is to not jump to conclusions, to be as honest and careful as we can in our research and in looking at the research of others-----
and by all means to create a climate where there can be an open and sincere exchange of information and to leave and keep these channels of communication open to all.
i agree this is really befuddling,
i am going to continue to have a lot to say but i am going to respond to you first.
it is my archibald harris/ elizabeth carter who are part of harris dna group 8 and it is their son, my james harris, who married anne cooper, daughter of jesse cooper/ rebecca darby in 1849 in cobb/ paulding co, ga, who are my great-great grandparents.
again, my archibald harris, who married my elizabeth carter ca 1826/ 1827, and perhaps before families even left south carolina, died in 1869 in cleburne co, al. their son, my james harris/ anne cooper died in 1872 in paulding co, ga.
everything i have studied and learned about my harris and carter families has indicated to me that my archibald harris was the son of my/ our charles and jane cannon harris.
again, my archibald harris/ elizabeth carter was on the 1830 gwinnett co, ga census; page 341, near his father-in-law, my robert carter, jr, who was page 342, also on this 1830 gwinnett co, ga census.
the other archibald harris on this 1830 gwinnett co, ga census was page 348.
this archibald harris married mary thompson and is the archibald harris, who is shown and indicated to have been part of the maud callaway hayes/ claiborne harris/ judith/ harris line and family.
in my corresponding with others in the past years ago re this other archibald harris, neither of us could see any connections re our archibald harrises.
as indicated, this archibald harris was born ca 1789 pendleton co, sc and died in 1856 in forsyth co, ga and is said to have been the son of benjamin harris/ karen gillison.
again, i have never seen any connections re my harris family to either the harris family in pendleton co, sc; other harris family in gwinnett co, ga; or harris family in forsyth co, ga.
instead, as i have already started to talk about, there are numerous connections re my harris and carter family, as well as with my cannon family, both there in laurens co, sc and on into cobb/ paulding cos, ga.
again, by 1832, my carter and harris family were in cobb co, and my robert carter, jr; my charles harris/ jane cannon; my arch harris/ elizabeth carter were all on the 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga.
