i am also going to post this additional info re our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter, as well as info on our harris and carter family, per records, also back to laurens co, sc.
our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter died in 1869 in cleburne co, al and i have the 1869/ 1872 cleburne co, al estate papers of our archibald harris stating that our james h harris of paulding co, ga was the son of our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter and, in fact, the estate papers of our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter name all of the children of our arch harris/ elizabeth carter and their grandchildren if that son or daughter were already deceased by or before 1869.
info shows that our archibald harris married our elizabeth carter ca 1826 in laurens co, sc.
our arch harris/ elizabeth carter is/ was on the 1830 census for gwinnett co, ga adjacent his father-in-law, our robert carter, jr. our arch harris/ elizabeth carter is on the 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga along, again, with our robert carter, jr and our charles harris/ jane cannon, who i believe the records and my research show, was his father.
our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter is on the 1840 census for either cobb or paulding co, ga and i think it is paulding co, ga.
our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter is on the 1850 census for cobb co, ga and in the california district. oddly enough, he may have been enumerated also in 1850 in the big shanty district also of cobb co, ga.
this is something i have never been able to figure out------i.e if this were our arch harris/ elizabeth carter also in the big shanty distict of cobb co., ga and wrong info was given re their ages-----or if this were totally another archibald harris with a wife also named elizabeth and with younger children named almost exactly the same names as those of our arch harris/ elizabeth carter.
our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter is/ was on the 1860 census for cleburne co, al and they and they were living in what was called the kemps creek area of cleburne co, al.
his oldest son, our william abraham harris/ mary choran/ cohran, and who was called, abraham harris, is also on the 1860 census for cleburne co, al. abraham harris is listed in the cain creek area of cleburne co, al and near daniel harris/ lucretia and who is said to have been the brother of our arch harris/ elizabeth carter.
i am not sure who was the oldest child of our arch harris/ elizabeth carter but it was either their son, william abraham harris or their daughter rachel caroline harris who married zachariah austin and who, like our james h harris/ anne cooper, was living in paulding co, ga when their father, our archibald harris/ elizabeth carter died in 1869 in cleburne co, al.
our james harris/ anne cooper, who was born in 1831 is/ was the 3rd child of our arch harris/ elizabeth carter and he is, per infocited here, on the 1850 census for cobb co, ga and also in the california district of cobb co, ga adjacent to archibald carter.

someone cited here thatarchibald carter was a probable first cousin of our james h harris. this is wrong.archibald carter/ nancy was the uncle of our james h harris/ anne cooper.
info indicates that archibald carter/ nancy, who, per the info to follow, is said to have been nancy pilkerton/ pilkington, is indicated to have been the youngest son of our robert carter, jr and his first wife, unknown, but who some say was a thompson, and a full brother of our elizabeth carter harris and her brother james t. carter, sr/ lucinda harris, who is said to have been born ca 1815 also in laurens co, sc.
here is info from another gen site re our related archibald carter/ nancy pilkington.

Archibald CARTER was a Methodist circuit riding Preacher.
His dau. Columbia Anna CARTER married James SINGLETON (1844-1882)--his
first name could be James, William or some say it is Iry? In the 1880 AL
census they are in Clay Co:
James SINGLETON 36, b. TN (? Could be any state--I have seen many
mistakes on place of birth in this family)
Columbia 26, b. AL
Nancy V. (Viola) 2, AL
(Had another dau. 1882, Elizabeth Anna or Anna Elizabeth)
It is said this SINGLETON came from a large plantation in this part of
With the Methodist connection, I was wondering if the SINGLETON

other info, which can also be found on line, states that our archibald carter/ nancy pilkington was born ca 1822 which i believe to be more accurate.
our robert carter, jr stated by oath, per a voter's registration poll in 1865 in paulding co, ga, that he was born in 1780 in laurens co, sc and i also have a copy of this information.
again, our robert carter,jr's 1st wife is unknown and who, again, was the mother of our elizabeth carter harris, james t. carter, sr/ lucinda harris; archibald carter/ nancy pilkington and other children.
our robert carter, jr married second and also in laurens co, sc ca 1825/ 1826 sarah mc daniel, daughter of william mc daniel also of laurens co, sc and, they also had a number of children, including pinson carter whose daughter ellen carter later married there in paulding co, ga robert franklin harris, son of our james harris/ anne cooper and younger brother of my/ our martin alonzo harris/ amanda allen.
