I know your posting is old but I'm hoping someone will spot this and respond.
Your Thomas O. Harris is a brother of Rutha/Ruthy Ann Harris Cowling of Stoddard Co. MO.
Here is a little census as background:
1850 Census, Stoddard Co. MO, Pike Twp., image 21 (written page 302)
George Harris, 41 M, TN
Almira, 41 F, TN
John, 20 M, KY
Caladonia, 13 F, KY
George, 11 M, KY
Jane, 9 F, KY
Thomas, 6 M, KY

Elijah, 2 M, MO
I can find the household of the son John Harris in Stoddard but I can not find George or the others and wonder if they had gone to Texas and then returned.

Now here is the critical piece of information that I just today stumbled on after being stumped on proof that my Rutha A. Harris Cowling Graves was really the daughter of George and Almira/Elmira "Mira".At this point this abstract is all I have and I found it on the Stoddard Co. MO GenWeb site.
HARRIS, George, dec'd - heirs John & George Harris, Caledonia Sitz, Ruthy Ann Cowlin of Stoddard Co.; Thomas Harris, Elijah Harris, & Sophronia J. Welborn of Denton Co. TX; 13 Jan 1872 - John Harris, prin.; J.W. Sitz & J.F. McDonald security.
Indeed, in checking census, I found Thomas O. Turner and his wife Dicie E. in Denton Co. TX in 1870 one household away from the household of Saml "Wilbon" and wife Sophrona and children.
I have found the death certificates for four of the Wilbon/Wilborn children and some list their mother as Jane Harris, some as Sophronia Jane Harris and one as S. J. Harris so this is clearly the correct daughter of George Harris of Stoddard Co. MO.
I am not sure what happened to Rutha A. Harris' Cowlin/Cowling husband but she apparently followed her brothers and sister to Denton Co. TX where she married again to William S. Graves on 7 Jan 1877 in Denton Co. TX.This was his second marriage also. The Graves family lived in the Pilot Point, TX area.
Rutha Ann Harris and William S. Graves had only one child--my great grandfather Walter Weatherford Graves born in 1878 in Pilot Point, TX.
Rutha Harris Cowling Graves
Born:22 Apr 1846 MO (probably Stoddard Co.]
Died:15 Jan 1896, Pilot Point, Denton Co. TX
Now I am searching for the maiden name of George Harris's wife Almira/Elmira "Mira."
