First please let me show you the connection my husband has to this family.
Allen Harrod m: Helen E. Thomas, when and where still ??? possibly Black Hawk Co., IA.
Allen and Helen had two children: Stanley M. Harrod cia 1890 in IA. and Lora B. Harrod cia 1900 in IA.
Stanley M. Harrod m: Ruth Elizabeth Smith on 4 May 1918 in Plymouth Co., IA.
Ruth E. Smith is the daughter of George Smith and Mary Jane Simmons, Ruth born cia 1897 in Plymouth Co., IA.
George and Mary Jan Simmons Smith is my husbands gggg Aunt and Uncle on his mother side. George one of, GGG Grandma, Mary Ann Smith Higginbotham's elder brothers.
Allen, Helen, Stanley and Ruth are are buried here in Kingsley, Plymouth Co., IA.
With my genealogy sense I found this in 1850 census and it seems to be Allen's family. The age for Allen seems logical.
271B of Pleasant Twp., Knox Co., OH. 1850 census.
Census state the following family.
HARROD, Levi, age 46, male, farmer, born PA.
HARROD, Darcus, age 50, female, none, born OH.
HARROD, William, age 17, male, farmer, born OH.
HARROD, Mary, age 15, female, none, born OH.
HARROD, Emeline, age 13, female, none, born OH.
HARROD, Amanda, age 11,female,none, born OH.
HARROD, Allen, age 9, male, none, born OH.
HARROD, Ann, age 7, female, none, born OH.
HARROD, Riley, age 6, male, none, born OH.
HARROD, Samatha, age 4, female, none, born OH.
HARROD, Sarah E., age 1,female,none, born OH.
IF this is the family I am looking for then 1880 census in Black Hawk Co., IA. and the death reg. indexed online at the Black Hawk County site for a Levi Harrod, d: 1884 all come into play.
So in all what I am hoping for is someone out there can some how confirm or not my genealical speculations on who my Allen belongs to. I will try to get more documentation on Allen and Helen here locally if possible.AS you can see I am a serious family researcher, most may not care to research 5th cousins :)-
