Isaac W. Harshman was born in Indiana 8 April 1839, 4th child and 4th son of Abram Harshman and Lucinda Kesling.He married on 21 August 1856 to Nancy Mary Johns, d/o David Johns and Nancy Bousman, born in Illinois on 16 July 1842.Isaac died at Colfax, Clinton Co., Ind on 5 June 1906 and Nancy died 20 June 1918 in Clinton Co.They had seven known children:

William Jasper, b 17 April 1859 in Ind., d April 1946, married Violetta Cohee

Isaac Ulysses Grant (called Isaac Jr.), b 27 Nov 1865 in Boone Co., Ind., d 1962 in Colfax, Clinton Co., Ind., married 1st 17 April 1889 in Thorntown, Ind. to Mary Lenora Beaver, married 2nd 9 August 1909 in Marion Co., Ind. to Gertrude White.
Flora Etta, b 29 July 1869 in Thorntown, Ind., married 12 May 1889 in Boone Co, Ind. to Charles Pairigon.

Abram Harshman, s/o Peter Harshman I and his 2nd wife Elizabeth Burres, was born in Ohio, possibly Warren county, about 1809, just a few years after the family had made the long trek from Rockingham County, Virg.Abram was married in Preble Co., Ohio 23 Nov 1828 to Lucinda Kesling.They moved to Clinton Co., Ind. after the birth of their 3rd child but before the birth of their 4th.Eight known children:

Peter Harshman I, called the 1st because he had a son and a grandson named Peter.Born in Germany in 1745, son of Ulrich Harshman.Peter served in Revolutionary War (service accepted by D.A.R., application of the late Mrs. Alice E. Harshman Thomas, National Number 269841).Peter's farm was located along what is now US 33 on the NW slope of the Blue Ridge just where the mountain merges into the foothills, along Swift Run about 3 miles SE of Elkton in Rockingham Co., Virg.Peter emigrated to Ohio just after Ohio became a State, settling in Greene and Preble counties.Peter died in Greene County in fall of 1827.Peter had two wives.Of the first wife only her last name is known, Smith, and she died about 1789.Peter and 1st wife had 7 known children: Elizabeth "Betsy", James, Sarah, Mary "Polly", Peter II, John, Elijah.Peter's 2nd wife was Elizabeth Burres, married in Rockingham Co., Virg, presumably on 4 Sept 1790.Peter and 2nd wife had 10 known children: Anna, Jacob, Rhoda, Henry, Charles, Nancy, Mary Peach, Abram (Abraham), Hiram, and Eliza.
