I am looking for information about Joseph Hart, born c. 1814 in Vermont, according to his death record, although Canadian censuses give Lower Canada as his birthplace. He lived in Quebec, then Ontario by at least 1842 and in Normanby Twp, Grey Co., Ontario, at least from 1851 to about 1885.He moved to South Arm Twp, Charlevoix Co., Michigan, likely after his wife, Jane (? Genevieve), died. His sons, Moses (b. c. 1847, h/o Mary Louisa Brunet/Burney)& Oliver (b. c. 1850, h/o Phoebe)& his daughter, Fidelia (Hart) McCalmon (b. c. 1854, w/o Samuel McCalmon) had begun farming in Charlevoix Co., Michigan earlier. Joseph Hart died there in 1889. The family of Joseph & Jane Hart was Roman Catholic, French-speaking, and of French Canadian ethnicity according to censuses.Other children: Julia, b. c. 1842; Mary Ann, b. c. 1844, w/o Joseph Crinklaw; Agnes, 1851-1852; Jane, b. c. 1852, w/o Thomas High/Heigh/Hoigh. This Joseph Hart is not Joseph Jolicoeur/Hart from Bethier, Quebec who died in Massachusetts. He is not likely a son of Moses Hart, businessman, member of the Hart family of Trois Rivieres & Yamaska, Quebec, given Joseph's Vermont birth & the fact that Moses Hart lived in Trois Rivieres after 1800.Any information about this Joseph Hart-line would be greatly appreciated.
