Hello Nancy! Thank you for a much better explanation of Lewis Hartis * or Ludwig Hirdes deserting date, and where, and the source that shows this.
I have heard of the HETRINA books. I don't know if my genealogy library had those books, or rolls. I just knew I heard of them. I wonder how much you can Hartis researchers count on that Ludwig Hirdes is the same as: Lewis Hartis.Yet, I do remember Morningstar Lutheran Church in Mecklenburg County did mention Ludwick Hartis... I'm not sure if they spelled it like the HETRINA files = Ludwig Hirdes. And also, some early Mecklenburg County LAND RECORDS may have had that German-type spelling: Ludwick Hirdes. Then eventually, he is referred to as: LEWIS HARTIS But if I come across this souce - the HETRINA books- I hope I understand it.You have worded it better than previous HARTIS Researchers I have come across. Also, from what you have said. It makes me wonder about if he married After Deserting and coming to the German Settlement " Dutch Bufflao Creek".Or if he married in Germany.Which I would think it would be more convinient to marry after Deserting.
