David,
My Great Grandfather was Samuel Harveston. His son William Marion Harveston was my Grandfather. He married Nellie Beckum and they had six children together - 3 boys, Echols, Ollie, E.D. and 3 girls Mary Edith Harveston,my mother, (named after Aunt Edith) and the twins Margaret and Martha (named after Samuel Harveston's wife Martha Mills.) While my Mother spoke of her parents I never knew them as they both died very young. Nellie Beckum Harveston died at the age of 27 during the Spanish Flu epedimic of 1917-18. My mother at the time was only 3 years old - the twins were babies and the boys were all older than my mother. William Marion Harveston died 6 years later at age 39 of a heart attack. The 6 children were then farmed out to 6 different family members. My Mother stayed in touch with her sisters, but not her brothers so I don't know much about them at all. I know that they are all dead now as is my Mother and her sisters(neither of the sisters had children.) I know little to nothing about the childern of her brothers. An Edward Stevens Harveston died this past December (12/08/05.) I just happen to catch the obituary in the Augusta Chronicle while I was in Augusta visiting my brother. We believe he is the son of Echols Harveston.
There is a Frank A. Harveston listed in the Augusta phone book. I don't know him but he is the last Harveston left in Augusta.
I don't know that any of this will help you, but I know I am always interested in any history attached to the Harveston name.
