JOHN “JACK” EMIL CARL HASEMAN, 94, of Fulda, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Fulda.
Born Dec. 24, 1911, in Bondin Township, Murray County, he was the son of William and Caroline Evers Haseman. He married Mildred Malenke Dec. 8, 1935, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fulda.
He grew up on the family farm and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Fulda. After marriage, they lived and farmed on the Haseman family farm. They retired from farming in 1974, but remained on the farm until December 1999, when they moved to Maple View Estates in Fulda. He entered Maple Lawn Nursing Home in August. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Darlene (Roger) Gerber, Fulda, Judy (Jerry) Miller, Olathe, Kan.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Totzke Funeral Home, Fulda, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fulda.
The service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fulda, with the Rev. Wayne Krohe officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Hill Cemetery, Fulda.
VERNON “VERN” EUGENE KVALE, 94, of Hills, died Friday Dec. 8, 2006, at his home.
Born March 10, 1912, on the family farm near Beaver Creek, he was the son of Knute and Betze Rovang Kvale. He married Nora Buesen Feb. 8, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. She died in 1987.
He received his education in country school and Hills High School. He studied agriculture and graduated from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. After marriage, he was a farmer and raised purebred Poland China hogs. In 1956, when his son became ill, he quit raising hogs. He retired from farming in 1972. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Luverne, and he was active for many years on the Beaver Creek Elevator Board and the Lumberyard Board.
Surviving is one son, Gregory Kvale, Hills.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Roste Funeral Home, Hills.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Luverne, with the Rev. Maurice Hagen and the Rev. Dell Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Hills.
