Hi, Your mother's name is spelled like my name is pronounced. What area are they from? My grandfather changed his name to Gawrylak when he married my grandmother, My father always said they changed it because it sounded to suspicious and they would get questioned? I took this for fact but since i have been doing some investigation into our name it seems to derive from hawryluk which is a very common name and I would find it hard to believe that this name was suspicious to any German or local authorites. My grand father's name was Jan Gawrylak and he was born May 7th, 1891 in Russia-Poland to Adam and Alyandra beamczyk? He later met and married my grand mother Marya Szczubialka in 1919 in Detroit,MI. If any of these names sound famlier or you can help in any way please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Edmund J. Gawrelak, Jr.
