Hello Jim Haygood, one of the best running backs that R.E. Lee Institute ever saw. I am a Haygood-Stroud descendant. I have been to Mars Hill Baptist Church in Watkinsville,Ga. in Oconee Co., formerly Clarke Co.,Ga. I have seen the graves of my ancestors Benjamin Haygood,Sr. and John Stroud, both Rev. War Veterans. Frances "Fannie" Haygood married Levi Stroud,Sr., son of Mark Stroud, son of John Stroud. Mark Stroud was also a Rev. War soldier, enlisted at 18 years of age from what I have seen. Levi Zachariah Stroud, Grandson of Levi Stroud,Sr. and son of Frances Marion Stroud, was my GGGranddaddy, who died on June 26, 1862 at the Battle of Ellison's Mill,Va., outside Richmond. He fought with a company from Pike Co.,Ga, that was part of the Ga. 44th Regiment, CSA.Have you seen or know of the Haygood-Stroud Cemetery near Strouds Crossroads in Monroe Co. just off Hwy. 83 in the woods? God Bless and take care.
