I've been researching family of Walker Heap who was born in 1862 in Soyland. He was the son of James and Elizabeth Heap, but seems to have been brought up as adopted son of Isabella (Heap?) and William Howard in Soyland after the death of Walker's father c. 1871.
Walker's siblings were: Nathan (Nathaniel) b. 1861 m. Mary Ann Lea; Frederic b. 1865 m. Hannah; Thomas b. 1867 m. Elizabeth; Rose Hannah b. 1870 and Emily b. 1871. all born in Soyland.
Thomas and Elizabeth's children were: Edwin b. 1890; Anne 1894; Walker b. 1896; Ernest b. 1899; Mary b. 1900 all in Yorkshire.
Walker (1862) went to the US in 1885 where he married Annie Ratcliffe. Children: Samuel b. 1888; Emma 1890; Isabella b. 1895;Annie 1897; Walker b. 1899; John "Harry" b. 1903; George b. 1906; Grace b. 1910.
One of the puzzles that I cannot solve is.. that I assume that Isabella is Isabella Heap, daughter of Crabtree Heap, of Soyland. I guess that she was the child-less sister of James and took in one of his children after his death. But.. I cannot connect James with Isabella.
The only James I can find that is the correct age.. bp. 27 Aug 1826 in Rippoden, is the son of John and Rebekah.
