NEWBERG - Thayna Flodene Jarvill was born the daughter of Frank and Edith Belle (Hobart) Heater on Thursday, January 27, 1910 in Silverton, Ore.
Born in the Silverton Hills, she graduated from Silverton High School and took classes at the Northwest School of Commerce. Flodene lived in the Silverton area until 1983 when she moved with her husband to Newberg.
Flodene married Fred Jarvill, who survives her, in 1934 and they shared sixty-nine and one half years together. She had many life long interests including Bible reading and study, family genealogy, tole painting, stamping, quilting, gardening, and homemaking. She was particularly passionate about Children’s Ministries and Missions.
On Sunday, May 30, 2004 Mrs. Jarvill died at a Newberg hospital when she was ninety-four years, four months and three days of age.
Surviving and left to honor her life are her husband, Fred H. Jarvill of Newberg; her son, Michael Jarvill of Camano Island, Wash.; her daughter, Connie Magee of Newberg; five granddaughters; twelve great-grandchildren; and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked.
Her Funeral Service will be Monday, June 7, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in Newberg Friends Church, Newberg, with Pastor Dan Cammack officiating. Committal is private at Newberg Friends Cemetery, Newberg. Viewing and Visitation hours are Monday, 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule funeral home.
