Does someone have proof that the wife of George W. Heatherly born abt. 1810 is Mary 'Hester' Raincrow? My records only has Hester, lastname unknown.
A posting by Mary Ann Smith Date: April 29, 2001 stated, "Clarence (Heatherly) just found out this month that Hester could be Mary ‘Hester’ Raincrow. He told me: “Mary was a full blood Eastern Cherokee and was listed on the "Hester Cherokee Roll" and perhaps that's why she became known as ‘Hester’.”
What is the proof of this? The time of the Cherokee "Hester Roll" was years after George & Hester were married, raised a family in Missouri and died. A web search on "Hester Roll" will reveal that the "Hester Roll" was completed in 1884 by Special Agent Joseph Hester.
