PORTLAND — Eva Sorensen Lund, 98, died Monday, July 29, at the Maine Medical Center. Formerly of Rumford for many years, she moved to the Portland area in 1962 and had recently been residing at Mill Cove Apts. on Soule Street, South Portland.
She was born in Cocagne, N.B., Canada, April 14, 1904, the daughter of Teotim and Dauphine (Legere) Hebert, and had attended schools in New Brunswick, Canada, and St. John’s School in Rumford. For a time she had owned and operated Eva Sorensen’s Millinery Solon (Hat Shop) in Rumford.
She had been a communicant of St. Athanasius-St John Church in Rumford and a 45-year member of St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella. She was married in Rumford, to the late Finn E. Sorensen who died in Rumford, on Nov. 30, 1961, and was later married to the late Jonas Lund of New York.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sheila Warday and husband Reuben of Lake Forest, Calif., and Christine Sorensen of Portland; two sons, Richard Sorensen and wife Mary of Corona of Del Mar and Palm Springs, Calif., and Neil Sorensen and wife Susan of West Peru; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Zachary Sorensen.
