Kristine, is your subject the grandaughter of Cyrus Jasper Heckathorn, son of Phillip & Rocksey (Thayer) Heckathorn? If so, Ted Heckathorn's book, "The Heckendorn-Heckathorn Family in America 1736-1982" has been an excellent basic reference for me as a descendant of Phillip through his daughter Margaret Jane. The trouble is, that although Cyrus is mentioned as a son of Phillip, and has a grand-daughter Edna, none of the other names, dates, & locations from Ted's book quite dovetail with your information. There were apparently a plethora of Heckathorns in southern Iowa in the 1850-1920 period, so we may be talking different family lines.P.S., I've been theorizing that Rocksey (Thayer) Heckathorn may be your/our Native American female, if we are indeed related, as Phillip was a very early settler in Ohio on Wyandot Indian lands near Marsallies, Ohio.I've found no traces of Rocksey/Roxie/Roxanne's ancestry.
