I just found your post from last October.
Although we have always spelled the name "Heckathorn," my family is connected to yours. My great-great grandfather was Cyrus Heckathorn, son of George Heckathorn and Catherine Rader.(Again, a slight difference in spelling.)I do not have the names of any siblings of Cyrus.Cyrus married Elizabeth Vollmer Powell in 1858 in Jefferson County, Iowa, and I show 7 children for them: the three sons you mention--Charles, Emmett and George; and four daughters--Rebecca, Amanda, Augusta (my g-grandmother), and Adell.Augusta married Lewis Frye about 1880. She died in 1889 after bearing four children, the oldest of whom was my grandfather, Elmer Frye. The Fryes lived in the area of Promise City, Wayne County, Iowa, which you mentioned.
I think you're probably right about Charles being Edna's father.Emmett would have been too young, and Uncle George stayed in Iowa, married Edith Long, and had 5 children, none of whom was named Edna (at least according to my records).G-G-Uncle George and G-G-Aunt Edith lived up into the 1940s and used to come to our family reunions when I was a child.(I was born in 1935.)
So--I think we can safely assume we are cousins.Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them.

P.S.Regarding the name Rissler:I have an Ella Rissler who married Orval Clark, son of Jacob Clark and Adell Heckathorn Clark.Undoubtedly part of the same family as George W. Rissler.
