Molly, I'm trying as hard as I can to prove with docunents and any solid evidence, How we are related . I do believe we are related but proving it is a very difficult project. Here is the basic research that I can prove at this point today. Melchoir Hefner was born in Germany in the early 1700s. He came to Colonial America mid-1700s. In 1772 (when the England still controled the American Colonies) Melchoir ,moved his family from Frederick County Maryland to Tryon County, North Carolina (later became Lincoln , then later became Catwaba Co). He Bought 350 acre of land. My 4Greatgranfather Jacob Hefner b.Nov. 1,1763 in Frederick County Maryland. Melchoir had 7 children, all born in Maryland. Jacob had 7 Children, David (my 3 Greatgrandfather)b. 1790 in North Carolina, Daniel, Henry, Jacob, John, Elizabeth and Catherine (Cathy). David was my 2Greatgrandfathers, John Hefner b. 1816 in North Carolina, father. My greatgrandfather was Thomas David Hefner b.June 4 1846. My grandfather was Thaddus Edgar Hefner born May 20, 1878 in Georgia. We searched for years and couldn't find out who his parents and siblings were. I had been searching for abouttwelve Years. About 10 years ago I spent three months in North Ga. libararies and County Court Houses coping every thing that was related or might be related to the Hefner's. I came back with boxes of material. Last year I was going through that material and found Jacob Hefner's will written in 1808 and probated in 1814(the year he died). In that Will abstract was all his children and wife's names. I am now trying to find out from the time Melchoir came to North Carolina who were his relatives that came with him. The most difficult problem is there were so many John's, Daniel's,Jacob's etc. A lot of other people are working with me on-line. Thank you for contacting me and I promise to Share any Info. that I have or find. Thanks again......... Charles Shuler in South Alabama.
