Does anyone have any more info on Mary Beardman. You said she is part cherokee and we have been trying to find out her maiden name and just what the indian connection in our family is.
I do not know if this info is correct, but here is what I have pieced together.
Martin Hefner's 1st wife was Edy Cross,I think they had 7 children. Abraham was born (1821) in NC, they also had a daughter in 1822 and a daughter in 1824.They had 3 more sons, John (1830), James(1834), and Martin(1835).Also another daughter was born in 1832.This info was given to me from another researcher. She said that Edy and Martin were on the 1830 Censes living in Posey Co., IN. She also found Martin in the 1840 census living in Calloway Co. KY.There are no females living with him at that time over the age of 18.Edy must have passed and possibly his eldest daughter, or else the daughter had married and moved out.
Martin's second wife is said to be Mary Beardman.I found a Mary listed in the 1850 Census born in 1822.At first I thought it was a daughter, but I am thinking it is his wife since she was born in KY.Also listed on this census is a George Beardman(1839) he could be her son if she was a widow when she married Martin. There are 7 children on the 1850 censes born in MO.These are; Daniel((1841), Samuel(1842), Dillen(1843), Pitman(1844), Benjamine(1847), Thomas(1848) and Aaron(1850).I also think they had three more children, Granville, Henry and William.
On the 1860 Census Martin is married to a Susan Nation and they have a son Wesley(1863).
