This is not my family, however, I am trying to do a historical search on him for our city and county history. I will give what I have, but do need some more information. Martin Luther Heidelberg was born 26 Aug 1867 in Jasper County, MS(from ancestry.com)His tombstone says he was born in 1867. and died 1950.I got his death date from ancestry as 1 Mar 1950 in Waynesboro. This would be Waynesboro, Wayne County, MS. ML Heidelberg was a trustee of the Merchants and Planters Bank in Waynesboro during the early part of the century. I do believe that he is related to the Heidlebergs from Jasper County that is mentioned in this forum. He married Anne S(Anne Ledgard Skipworth came from ancestry). She was born 18 May 1867 near Clarksville, Va (ancestry). Her tombstone says 1867.They married 1895 in Shubuta, Clarke County, MS (ancestry). No proof of my own. Fact:Name:Martin Luther Heidelbergb. 1867 and d. 1950 Anne Skipworth Heidelbergb. 1867and d. 1959.Both are buried in Waynesboro Cemetery, Waynesboro, Wayne County, MS. Their children were: Edith, Luther, Helen, Eugene, and Fulnar Fulnar S was born Aug 10, 1906 and d. Sep 16, 1906.Taken from tombstone and reads "son of ML and AS Heidelberg" Helen (ancestry says her middle name is Skipworth) was born November 24, 1902 and died March 20, 1939.She was the wife of Frank W Freeman. They had at least one son, Frank West Freeman, Jrb. Jul 11, 1928 and died Apr 12, 1989.He served in the Korean war (taken from tombstones).Helen, her husband and the mentioned son are buried in the Waynesboro Cemetery, Waynesboro, Wayne County, MS Edith was born in 1898 and died in 1929.Ancestry has her birth as 27 Mar 1897 and her death as Nov 1929.I took her birth and death dates from her tombstone. However, I found an article in the Wayne County News dated February 14, 1929 on her tragic death.Edith had married a Robert Rennie from Clarksville, Va.She became estranged from him and moved back to Waynesboro to live with her parents.Several times during the holidays, Robert Rennie appeared at the house for a reconciliation. On this particular day, she followed him to the door of her parents home, and he asked her if she was going to get back with him.She told him she did not think that she could live with him.He got a gun, shot, and killed her, then turned the gun on himself, killing himself. She was buried in Waynesboro and his body was shipped by rail to be buried in Clarksville, Va.Her tombstone says her name is Heidelberg, therefore, her parents probably would not allow her married name to be put on it. The date of her death could not be accurate according to ancestry. The weekly newspaper was published on Thursday and stated that she died the previous Monday. The article was in the Feb 14, 1929 issue. It stated that she was survived by her parents, one sister, Helen Freeman from Buhl, Ala, and two brothers, Luther Carter of Gulfport and Eugene of Buhl, Ala. I need more information on Luther Carter Heidelberg and Eugene Heidelberg as they seem to have disappeared. If anyone has any information on them, I would appreciate it. I would like to write an article on this family for the family history book they we are trying to get together for the county.I became interested after reading the article of Edith's death.
