Maybe my relative Johann Friedrich Christian HEITMANN, born August 9, 1829 in Triglitz, Prignitz, Brandenburg, Prussia, Germany, son of Johann Heinrich HEITMANN, is identical with
Friedrich* Christian HEITMANN, born August 9, 1829 in "Zion County, Germany" [never heard of a Kreis Zion in Germany"], son of Johann HEITMANN. He was married to Sophia HEISE, born January 22,1836 in Mechow near Kyritz, Prignitz, Brandenburg, in Mechow before 1860.
Friedrich and Sophia (Sophie) emigrated to the U.S.A. with their children Gustav [born 1864], Minna or Minnie (born 1872), Wilhelm (William) [born 1867] and Emma [born 1875], on board the ship "Rhaetia" from Hamburg via Le Havre. They settled in Jefferson Precinct, County Douglas, Nebraska, where Friedrich was a farmer.
He changed his first name to Fred [in 1885] and Frederick [in 1891]. Various spellings of his surname such as HEIDTMAN or HEITMAN.
My Johann Friedrich Christian's parents were Johann Heinrich HEITMANN and Catharina Maria Dorothea* née Scherff in Triglitz where they owned a small farm.
Duane Wiese, one of Friedrich's descendants, has no further information on Friedrich HEITMANN's parents.
Would be great to find out if the two are the same person. Who can help?
Thanks in advance.
Willi, Johann Heinrich Heitmann's descendant
