John Heitz is listed on the register of the ship ???, which sailded from Rotterdam and landed at Philadelphia, PA on 26 May 1838.There were only seven passengers listed, but his wife was not among them, however women sometimes were not listed.John Heitz apparently first settled at Independance, Cuyahoga Co, OH, near Cleveland where it is known that their first son, Frederick D. Heitz was born, in fact it appears that all five known children were also born there, ranging from the year 1840 to about 1854.It is not known when John moved his family to Illinois, but it is known that he did purchase land in Madison Co, IL in 1859 or early in 1860 and they lived there until about 1870, during the Civil War and a few years afterward. They arrived in Bourbon County, Kansas in the spring of 1870, but apparently went over the line into Vernon County, MO by the time the Census was taken that year (being June 30).John Heitz lived the remainder of his life in Vernon Co, MO and died there 23 Dec 1895.He buried at McKill Chapel Cenetery in Harrison Township west of Bronaugh, MO.His wife died in Madison County, IL, probably in 1869 before they came to Missouri.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth Frolich in France. She died about 1869 in Madison Co, IL
John and Mary had the following children:
Frederick D. Heitz (Born 29 Jan, 1840)
I have more information on this family, but looking for siblings of Frederick D. Heitz.I know of 11 children of Frederick D. Heitz, but only have information on one, James Edward Heitz.
