Hello.
Our family tree has been traced back to a William Hellobie in the 17th century. My father's surname is Ellaby and so is mine, however, we have found out that our surname 'Hellaby' was changed to Ellaby in my geat grandfather's generation. We believe that this was so due to the accent in our area where the 'h' is easily dropped. Our family originate from Derbyshire, England, and whilst the majority stayed in this area, some members emigrated to New Zealand, America and other parts of the UK.
We have a copy of our family tree which is so vast and this was traced back by another member of the Hellaby family a few years ago.It could possibly be that your name is mentioned on the family tree so I will have a look.
I hope that this is of some help - please feel free to e mail me if I can provide any more information.
