Barbara and Gillian - hello from another relative.
Barbara - William Hellaby did indeed marry Rosina Burdett in 1876.They actually had five children.Eleanor Lillywhite and Rose Burdett were my much-loved maiden aunts, with whom I spent a lot of time when I was a child.I travelled extensively with "Aunty Lilly" from about the age of five.Their brother, Joseph Arthur Burdett (JAB) Hellaby was my grandfather - his only daughter Frances Joyce being my mother.
I don't recall exactly when Aunty Ivy died, but it would have been the early 50s.I remember visiting her a few times (I was born in 1948).She had a son Robert, who died when he was young.
There was another son, William. He died in 1940 and had no children, so my mother, brother Rick, half-sister Judy and I are the only survivors of that line - along with Rick and Judy's children of course.
I live in Perth - and can send you some information from a book (which Gillian probably has also) called An Auckland Network.Send me an email if you would like it.
I know many of my cousins on the Richard (brother of William) Hellaby side of the family who are around my age but I don't remember ever meeting Gillian, although I knew her uncle, Lindo Ferguson, very well.I lived in Auckland until 1970, and again for a couple of years in the late 70s.Between 1970-75 I was in London and Brussels, and since 1979 have been in Australia.
I found this site when looking for relatives of Joseph and John, the two brothers of Richard and William who emigrated to Albany, New York, in the mid 1800s.
