This is the info that I have. I have that Dempsey Armstrong was the son of John Armstrong and Mary Polly Abercrombie.John and Mary Polly are buried at Dials Methodist Church in Gray Court,SC. John Armstrong was the brother to Isaac Armstrong and William Martin Armstrong.William Martin married Sallie Hellams. This is Hellams that I cannot find any info on. The only thing that I have been able to find about the Abercrombies is a book that was written about the Laurens County Abercrombies. The book mentions the Armstrongs. I have that the father of Dempsey, Isaac, and William Martin is Captain John Armstrong. He married Hannah Dial. Hannah was the daughter of Martin Dial and Christie Abercrombie.Captain John was the first in our line to come to South Carolina.Captain John's father was Col. John Armstrong of Stokes County, NC.He had married Janette Coker. The Coker family had moved to the Gray Court area from NC.Janette took her children to Gray Court after her husband had died.I am trying to prove that William Martin had married Sara(Sallie) Hellams. There seems that I have come to a dead end on the Hellams family. Also I have that Dempsey was a private in the Civil War in Kershaw's Infantry Brigade, Co. E. 3rd Battalion. He was killed at Boonsboro on Sept. 14, 1862.
