Am researching ancestry on my mother's side of the family; any leads will be appreciated.
William hellums, born 1763, married Mary Box, in the early 1780's, in Lauren's Co., S. Carolina. Two children, John, born 1782, and Mary, born 1791. They moved to Knox Co., Tn. and had another child, Anna, in 1801. John married Margaret Pruitt/Pruett (where James Pruitt Hellums got his middle name). the whole bunch moved to Madison Co., Mississippi Territory, which later became Alabama, in 1901.John and Margaret had at least one son, James Pruitt, who married Mollie Rice. At least one son of this union, James Pruitt Hellums Jr., whose second wife was Carrie Bammer Alexander. Children of this union, that I am closest to are, Howard Linam Hellums, my grandfather, and his brother, Collis Hellums. I saw Pa Pa's half-sister, Sadie, about a year ago, before she passed away, at our "Family Reunion". I know that some of the cousins are Bakers, Hagans, &Pruitts. I wish I had so much more. Mom hasd a couple of books, one leatherbound that she bought, and one, that another family member, though not published, has quite a lot of information on our family.
If any of this sounds familiar or promising, please feel free to contact me via e-mail, and I will be happy to share whatever I find. Hopefully, by working together, we can unravel the threads of our family and find a common bond.
Thank-you for your time and consideration.
