QUESTIONS: Thomas Simpson is my Gr.Grandfather, he is the same in both the 1881 and 1901 census. His mother is noted as Margaret Simpson as per the 1901 census, but yet why is she using the last name Thomson in the 1881 census when her son is 5 years old?
In the 1881 census, Thomas is living with John Blackely/Buckley.How can John be a step brother to Thomas as per the 1901 census?
Why is it that I cannot find any marriages for Margaret Simpson?Margaret's maiden name on Thomas's birth certificate is Helsby. This woman has used the last names of Helsby, Thomson and Simpson.
Is it safe to assume that the unreadable wifes name in the 1901 census is Margaret Simpson's daughter? Why didn't she show up on the 1881 census?
Sorry it is so long.I hope someone can shed some light on this matter.
I sincerely thank you for your time and patience. Carol
