Additional info: the St. Ours marriage repertoire (p. 3329 and 3332) indicates that the parents of Pierre Simpson were Jacques (deceased) & M. Anne Kennedy.Pierre married Marie Girouard on 27 Sep 1819 in St. Ours.
Unfortunately several websites list family trees giving Simon Henault-Lafreniere-Canada and Marie Catherine Desorcy as the parents of Marie Anne Henault who married Jacques Simpson, which Mr. Eno has now disproved.
I have the burial extract from St. Ours parish that indicates Jacques Simpson died 5 Jul 1818 and was buried there on 7 Jul 1818, and that his wife was Marie-Anne Canada. The priest annotated this extract saying that the name Canada should be Kennedy, there being a frequent case of mispelled names.
Another source - "Acadian Marriages of Quebec" lists M-Josephte Richard as having married Louis Simpson at St. Ours on 23 Sep 1811, Louis being a son of James & M-Anna Kennedy.
It looks like M. Anne Kennedy/Canada may indeed have been a Henault, but her correct parents are not known.
