Kathie i have no idea which Henninger is the progenitor of my family. My 5th grandfather was a Michael Henninger from Va. to Mecklenberg, Anson County NC area and name change or misspelling on Census of 1820 ended up as Henegan and now Hennigan. This reason is why i research the surname Henegar as well since we were raised with the oral history of being German descent with our name spelled with a whole lot of n's according to my great uncle but didn't know the true spelling. Oral history in a certain Henegar family in Texas is the same as mine. A Mr. Henegar 98 years old in 1996 on his death bed told his son of 75 years that his grandfather was suppose to change his name to Henegan as others in family did, but refused.
