My family name is Earnshaw but I have recently found out that my grandfather's name was Thomas Henshaw before he came to Canada. He was married twice. His second wife's name was Harriet Meakin. The children of his first marriage moved to NZ at Riccarton. I have copies of three letters written in the late 1800's from his son Thomas (also)
I recently purchased a marriage certificate from Worksop, Nottinghamshire in which it has Thomas senior's father's name. It is difficult to make out but I believe it is Octavius.
Is there anyone out there who can add information to my scant bit? Anything would be appreciated.
Thomas, who married Harriet, was a widower (age 52) when he married Harriet Meakin. She was 26. They moved to Ontario, Canada. Thomas and Harriet had two sons, William and Oliver. Oliver was my Grandfather. My father's name is Gilbert.
