Carson Herron, 86, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, March 26, 2010, after a period of declining health at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport and is now in the loving presence of his savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born in Sullivan County, TN, on July 11, 1923, was of the Baptist faith and had lived his entire life in Kingsport. During World War II he was employed by Holston Ordnance Works (later known as Holston Army Ammunition Plant) and in later years was an iron worker hanging the high steel for many sky scrapers in the northern states of Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. He retired from Fluor Daniel Construction at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport at the age of 65.
Carson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather to his three children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was a very special man who was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Mae Roberts Herron; a daughter by a previous marriage, Brenda Herron Webb; his parents, Jack and Sallie Johnson Herron; three brothers, Bill Herron, Andy Herron, and Lawrence Herron; and two sisters, Dinah Herron Davidson, and Donah Herron Woods.
He is survived by two sons, Jackie Glenn Herron and wife Cindy, and Carson Lynn Herron and wife Patty, all of Kingsport, TN; and a very special friend, Miss Doris Spivey, also of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren include the sons of Jackie and Cindy, Cayce Herron and Cade Herron, and the sons of Lynn and Patty, Brian Herron and Dustin Herron; and great-grandchildren of Brian and Christy Herron are Logan Herron, Taylor Herron, Seth Herron, and Kayla Herron.
A very special thank you goes to Shelby Parker and all the employees of The Wexford House who have taken such good care of him for the past fifteen months while in their care.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, March 29, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eckel Herron and Rev. Bill Tignor officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
