Hi, Found out that we just might be cousins of sorts. I looked in the Allentown Morning-Call online archives for any information on an Orthia Heyer (found her in a yearbook from Nazareth 1930's) and didn't find out much about her, but in the search, her daugthter's name came up - Orthia Skripek. The article is from 1995, and she was interviewed about her "Tea Room". This is a room where she keeps all her family's history and letters, etc. Well, Wilmer and Mae (Pettit) Heyer were her grandparents on her mother's side. She also mentioned her great-grandfather David Heyer, that he was a teacher and farmer, she has a teaching certificate from 1898 that was issued to him. She goes on to tell he used to take his goods to the Circle in Easton to sell. She also has a ledger book that tells what they sold... Also, she mentions her great-great grandfather - Israel Heyer, who ran a feed mill with stone water wheel, --this is now a bed and breakfast call the Inn at Heyer's Mill in Bushkill Township near Route 512. ---Now Israel was a brother to John Heyer who is my great-great grandfather on my mother's maternal side. I have found a great site on the Mormon's FamilySearch site. Look up the family record for John Heyer, it goes back to 1640 -Buchenau, Hunfeld, Hessen, Germany. ----Also, found your mom's name in a 1940 Souvenir book of Nazareth's 200th year. She sang a song in a production.
