Did your family wind up in the Lodi area of CA? I ask because I've been sifting through a bunch of old photos that belonged to my grandmother and trying to sort out who everyone is/was. She had 5 photos of different people standing in front of a house -- mostly young adults, one of which was wearing a sailor hat. The Hewitt family is in most of photos (Monalee and Joyce Hewitt, their mother Clara Hewitt, and Clara's parents Mr. & Mrs. Hause.)
When doing a google for "Monalee Hewitt", I found this archived newspaper article:
Allen Rube, Entering Service, Honor Guest at Farewell Party A farewell party was given on a recent evening at the home of Bonnie Marie Hickok in North Central Ave., the gathering honoring Allen Rube, who is entering the service. Games were the enjoyable diversion and refreshments were served. A beauty contest in which the girls participated was won by Lena White and Allen Rube was judged the handsomest boy. Dayman Jones, costumed as a girl, also won a prize. Present were Monalee Hewitt, Joyce Hewitt, Lois White, Jackie Harrison, B. Jones, Dayman Jones, Alvin White, Wilma Davis, Pauline Irey, Elmer Brenning, S. 2/C; Albert Guido, Bill Hickok, Bonnie Miller, Lena White, Jean Staniford, Sonnie Ray, James Bell, Gene Ray, Glen Castleman, Jimmy Castleman, Floyd Younger; the guest of honor, Allen Rube; Mrs. Clara Hewitt, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Hickok and Dianna, Mr. & Mrs. Victor Hickok, and the hostess, Bonnie Marie Hickok. ---------
I believe that the photos I have may be from this party. I don't think I'm related to any of these folks, but your two names show up in the article -- Victor & Myron. If you're interested in seeing them, please email me and I'll send you jpgs.
