Circa 1771, a woman with a name similar to the above m. Benjamin LANIER (of the well documented family of poet Sidney Lanier) in Screven Co., GA,had a dau. Nancy in 1773 probably in the same place. Sometime btw 1782 & 1798, theymoved to Jefferson Co., MS where she was a founder of a Baptist Ch. She died in 1802 in MS.
We have not been able to find a trace of her family. The surname may be HILLEY or variants. There are Hilleys in GA at that time. Her given name may end in 'ss' as we all know how the 'strange' way the double ess was written at the time. Can anyone make a suggestion?
