I took the above info from her 1899 death certificate in London, Ontario. She married James Smith from Kent about 1850/51.I cannot find a marriage in Ontario or England.Their first child, my ggrandfather Andrew Smith, was born in Perth Co., Ontario. in 1852. James and his brother were coopers in Mitchell. After his death, she lived with a daughter, Emma Jane Smith Devine, in London. As executrix of his will, she signed all the many papers "Amy Smith".
It is entirely possible that Amy was a nickname for Emma, Emily, Amelia, etc.I have tried them all, but could be fooled by a very different name. Also no Hills from England in Mitchell or the county.
There is also a mysterious and compelling connection to Cleveland, Ohio.If it rings a bell with anyone, I can elaborate its many tentacles through two generations.
