Hi Lenore - I think we may have a connection...My maternal great, great, great grandfather was Chase Hilyard, who was born in Camden in 1804, and at some point migrated to the Eastport area. He is listed in the Camden census in 1820(? - it's been a while since I found it). I don't know how/why he went to Eastport, and I don't know how/why he got to Camden. He was married to Sarah Wentworth, who was born in Frankfort. She was part of the William Wentworth line, and I have volume 1 of the Wentworth family history that was written c. 1865.Sarah and Chase's children are listed, as well as some grandchildren.) Their son George Warren "Tim" Hilyard was my MGGF, and his son George Thomas Hilyard (born in Eastport in 1881) was my grandfather. He isn't listed in the Wentworth history, because he hadn't yet been born.My mother, Sylvia Yvonne Hilyard (b. 1925, d. 1998), was the youngest child of Tim and Annie Mae Collins. Chase's origins have been a mystery to me for some time - there's some evidence of a NH connection, I think. It also seems that Chase may have changed the spelling of the name from Hilliard to Hilyard.
I have lots more info about these few Hilyard generations. Hope we have a connection - look forward to hearing from you - Susan H. Long
