My great-great-great aunt Catharine MARKS married in 1843 (Manchester Cathedral, Lancashire) Robert HINDLEY, of full age, bachelor, Mechanic, son of William HINDLEY, Mechanic. Witnesses were John MARTIN (Catharine's brother-in-law) and Jane MCDONALD.
Robert and Catharine were godparents to Robert and James MARTIN in 1848 and 1850 in Manchester, and Catharine was witness at Robert MARTIN's wedding in Manchester Cathedral in 1867.
Robert may have been the Robert HINDLEY who was baptised at the Cathedral in 1822, son of William and Mary HINDLEY.
He may also have been the Robert HINDLEY aged 59, widower, brass driller, born Manchester, who was living in 1881 (Census)in Newton, Lancashire, with his son, another Robert HINDLEY, aged 28, iron moulder, b. Manchester, and the latter's wife Maria, 26, and their children Edward HINDLEY, 6; Robert, 4, and Rose Ann, 2, all born in Manchester.
Do these Manchester HINDLEYs seem familiar to anybody on this List?
