Just to inform any Hindleys out there that my wife and I have a child affected with a rare genetic disorder called Friedreichs Ataxia. This is a recessive genetic disorder and is passed down the family line.Chances are slim that two people with the same defective gene will get together and have an affected child, but it made it this far to our family. The disorder has its roots in England. If you are a Hindley and trying to have a child. Please have you and your spouse tested for the defective gene.A carrier has no chance of having an affected child, but a couple who are both carriers, have a 25% chance of having an affected child. We were the 1 in 50,000! I think this may be the forum with which to pass this information on. Family geneology is more than knowing who one's ancestors are!
