Prior to coming to Chowan County, NC, the Hindsleys lived in Queen Anne's Co. Maryland (now Caroline Co). William Hindsley came from England aboard the Safety in August 1635 and lived in Northampton County, Virginia, died in 1854. Persumably his son, Thomas (1651-1733) was a yeoman in Queen Anne's County, MD, owning at one time 1000acres. The main plantation was called "Hindsley's Plain." Thomas had several children -- Peter, Nathaniel, Charles, Thomas and Solomon. If there were girls I don't know their names.
Charles married Catherine Foubert on January 11, 1730 at St. Luke's Church (Churh Hill, MD). After his death in c. 1744, Catherine married Richard Buckley. They moved to Chowan County, NC along with whatever children were born of Charles--at least Joseph, if not others. Joseph (son of Charles had at least three sons--Joseph, John, Charles. John married Ann Stone (see above) and they moved to Tennessee in 1823, then to Peeble Co. OH in 1826, then to Darke Co, OH in 1827. That's not far from Richmond, IN. It may be that Elizabeth was the sister of John and therefore the daughter of Joseph Hindsley (Charles, Thomas, William), but I'm just guessing. I hope this has helped you a bit.
